Original artwork description

Archival Giclée print on enhanced matte paper, printed in Japan.

*An Elegy For Explosion* begins with a quiet, almost solemn moment: LAPIN reads a classical-looking book titled *An Elegy For Explosion*. The moment the book is opened, it literally explodes.

The work explores the relationship between literature, imagination and the absurd. A book represents knowledge, contemplation and escape; here, reading becomes an unpredictable and destructive experience. The visual joke also suggests how a story, idea or piece of literature can suddenly overwhelm us and change the way we see the world.

Inspired by old comics and absurd visual narratives, the delicate line drawing, restrained colours and quiet composition contrast with the sudden violence of the explosion. Rather than offering a fixed meaning, the work leaves the interpretation open: it may represent an overwhelming idea, a story that changes everything, or simply the ridiculous consequence of opening the wrong book.
